Listed below are just a few examples of our work where we have assisted higher education institutions with facilities and related projects:
- In order to meet the evolving demands of students and enhance the university's ability to attract high-achieving undergraduates, B&D Consulting assisted a private institution with securing $3.8 million in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Energy to upgrade existing mechanical systems, computer network connections, and renovate classrooms and laboratory space first built in the 1960s.
- B&D Consulting has worked alongside an institution of higher education which serves as a state leader in work force and economic development, attracting significant economic enterprise back into areas that have traditionally relied on the manufacturing sector. The university has been successful in accomplishing this work through the operation of statewide learning centers. These centers are the primary source for higher education services for individuals who are place-bound and unable to attend college or work force training at a university campus. The hub of the learning centers is located in a community experiencing tremendous economic transition. B&D Consulting worked with university leadership to secure funding for the renovation of its learning center as well as the expansion of educational services that will afford more local citizens the skills and credentials valued in the local labor market.
- B&D Consulting's first college client had virtually no federal funding or sponsored research in 1986. In partnership with B&D Consulting, the university developed an aggressive program that has brought more than $40 million in support of research, campus improvements and new buildings. Recent projects of note include the acquisition (at no cost) of a federal building that will become the university business school, more than $8.9 million to fund a multi-modal parking and transit center adjacent to the business school, and $1 million for a business incubator. Twenty-two years later, that client remains and B&D Consulting has had the opportunity to work for three different university presidents.
